Why smart bulbs (my Sengled ones at least) have to work the connection to your websites?
I have Sengled light bulbs in my place, and until now (11:30 PM, all Sengled PST).us .ca .eu websites are down, so this means that the hub can’t connect back home, so that means that the lights can be incandescent bulbs just as stupid.
Why is this a thing?
Internet connection should only be necessary if the hub is controlled from outside of the network. But not only are these lamps have a connection to the internet 24/7, but you need to be connected to your own website Server. At least, this should have been developed, so that, if the website Server go down, the whole system is not in bed with him, as well.
screw the voice-assistant for not able to make local, same-network-operations, with only a Wi-Fi connection and no internet.
