With tech companies exhibit many of the tactics that Russia uses now infamous troll farms, to seed disinformation in the election of 2016, the campaigns are always creative.

After a few reports from Facebook and Twitter, a disinformation campaign run, back of people with connections to Russia, the Internet Research Agency (IRA), and focused on the USA, but this time, it is run out-of-Africa.

“This network was in the initial phase of building an audience, and was operated by local nationals — some consciously and some unconsciously — in Ghana and Nigeria in the name of individuals in Russia,” Facebook explains in his blog post.

CNN apparently led his own deep investigation in the operations in Ghana and Nigeria, so far, to a tour of the houses, in which a group of Ghanaians worked to craft posts targeting American social issues.

Most of the accounts were created, in the second half of 2019 and that the content that you created, with issues around race, especially the tensions between black and white Americans. According to Facebook, the campaign is focused on the topics of black history and black excellence, but also “content about oppression and injustice, including police brutality.”

Facebook detected 49 Facebook accounts, 69 Facebook pages and 85 of the Instagram accounts of the campaign. On Facebook, the relatively nascent collects at the end of accounts of around 13,500 followers. On Instagram, the account has a following of around 265,000 had<./p>

On Twitter 71 accounts to the Russian-run operations in Ghana and in Nigeria spread similar messages in an effort to “sow discord by engaging in conversations about social issues, like race and civil rights.”

It is alarming, if not surprising, that the Russian efforts to inflammation, the existing social differences in the United States, but Twitter offers a useful reminder that most of the disinformation comes in the country from the inside, not the outside.
