The incredible value of the iPhone-SE in 5 simple charts

As we are clear in our iPhone SE review, the best feature of Apple’s new iPhone, the price. By essentially taking an iPhone 8 and a paging of its own processor for the company will the latest and greatest A13 Bionic, Apple will be able to profitably sell $399 phone that provides a much of bang for the buck.

How good of a value is it really? Maybe a few charts, everything is clear. Through the capture of performance metrics, and Division by the base starting price for each new iPhone that you can buy, we are able to measure the performance-per-dollar.

We use the current prices for the base model, which means on all currently available iPhones, without renovated units: the the iPhone 11, iPhone 11, iPhone 11, Pro Max, and the iPhone is XR (which now costs $599).

Bear in mind, we are only comparison of easily quantifiable performance here. You should expect to pay more for features such as edge-to-edge display, Face-ID, multiple rear cameras, a night mode for photos, a frame made of stainless steel, and so on. Benchmark results per dollar spent is by no means a complete picture of a cell value.

CPU performance

we begin with the views of the CPU performance. We take the popular standby Geekbench 5, and the views of the single-core and multi-core performance, divided by the Start price.

The iPhone-SE delivers nearly twice the CPU perofmormance per dollar than any other iPhone.

It is an absolute defeat. The iPhone-SE delivers nearly twice the CPU performance-per-dollar than the next best iPhone. We should not be surprised that the start-up of the excellent A13 in the 400 € phone the yield such results would be.

graphics performance

we turn our attention to the graphics performance, we use 3DMark benchmark that mimics the kind of intensive graphics in high-end games.

The iPhone-SE is the price more than makes up for his strange differences in the performance in this test.

If you remember, our iPhone-SE, we noticed that, while most of the graphics benchmarks run the same on the iPhone SE iPhone 11 iPhone 11 Pro, it gave a exception with the 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme benchmark. For some reason, it ran 10 to 20 percent slower than other iPhones with the A13 chip. In spite of this, the $399 price tag still makes it a much better value.

In many 3D graphics tests, the iPhone-SE delivers nearly twice the performance-per-dollar.

Just for the sake of completeness, we 3DMark the older Ice-Storm-Unlimited-test as well. In this test (as is the case with most of the graphics tests), the iPhone-SE runs only as fast as the iPhone 11, or iPhone 11 Pro. The same performance for about 43 percent less money!

battery life

What about battery life? One of the few disappointments of the iPhone-SE is that it is still exactly the same 1821mAh battery, like the iPhone 8. It only takes a little bit longer than the iPhone 8, but more modern iPhones Packed in higher capacity batteries and last much longer.

As a reminder, our battery-life test puts the display at 200 nits, and leads the Geekbench 4 battery life test, which loops running Geekbench 4 benchmark until the battery dies. It is a punishment test is much more than your typical daily use.

The iPhone-SE-shorter battery life is not so bad in US dollars to-the-minute-basis.

The life-per-dollar champ, the iPhone is XR. With a large 2942mAh battery, it will take a very long time, and now starts at $599. Despite the fact that the battery dies about 35 percent of the earlier in the iPhone-SE, it’s affordable price tag makes the battery-to-dollar-value only slightly less than the iPhone XR. The iPhone 11 will take as long as the iPhone is XR, but starts at $699. The iPhone 11 Pro lasts longer, and the iPhone 11 Pro Max is the longest of all, but those sky-high price tags to do you any favors here.

memory value

Every new iPhone that you can buy today, starts at 64 GB of storage. This makes it really easy to figure out, what is, give you more storage space per dollar. We divide stops, the price of 64 and get a Dollar-per-gigabyte value. Note that here a lower value is better.

iphone-se-value-memory IDG

All of the iPhones start at 64 GB of memory, so that the least expensive, offers you the best storage value.

When all the phones with the same amount of storage, the least expensive, is obviously the best value. The iPhone-SE, which gives you more twice the gigabytes per dollar, such as the iPhone 11 Pro, and nearly three times as many as the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Apple offers the iPhone, SE, iPhone, XR and iPhone 11 with 128GB models for $ 50 more than the base price, but you can’t Pro with 128 GB on the iPhone 11. For $ 150 more, you can come and 256 GB of storage on any other iPhone than the iPhone XR. The iPhone 11 Pro (and Pro-Max) is already in the 512-GB capacities for $350 over the base price. So, storage upgrade, the cost is essentially about the iPhone line.

where is the hook?

The iPhone-the best value in the Apple range by a huge margin, except in the life of the battery, where it is almost equal points with the first place iPhone XR. So, what’s the catch? Why would anyone buy anything else?

Now, these cards are meant to illustrate a point about the exceptional value of the iPhone-SE, but they do not capture everything that is worthwhile about the phones. Still, you have the absolute performance capture.

For example, the iPhone-SE, the shortest battery life with all the current iPhone model, it is simply the cheapest iPhone, the life-per-dollar ratio is good. If you have a four-year-old iPhone, you will be much happier with the iPhone-SE-battery life, but it is still much shorter than the other iPhone models.

you also have to consider all of the features are not as easily quantifiable numeric. How much does a underwater camera is the rear worth it? Or a Tele-camera? How much do you wish that the night-mode photos and Portrait-mode photos of non-human subjects? Such as Face ID, or the possibility of using Memoji and Animoji? What is an edge-to-edge display or a OLED display? You are concerned that your iPhone has an aluminum frame instead of a stainless steel?

are The other iPhones are more expensive and just look like you have a lower value, if you ignore the other features. While it may not be easy to put a dollar value on any of them, each boosts the iPhone in a meaningful way.
