Still one of the best budget phones – CNET

On April 10, Samsung announced that updates for the Galaxy A-series family of budget phones, the ready to compete against Apple last iPhone-SE for the year 2020. While some models have new features such as 5G, all of them are less than 400 € and have headphone jacks. One of the new phones, the Galaxy A51, is a sequel to 2019 Galaxy A50.

The Galaxy A50 from 2019 might not be as fancy as the latest Galaxy S20-mobile phones or as cool looking as the Z-Flip. But to start at $350 (£309, AU$500) and now a discount of Samsung more at $300, the A50 is one of the two best Android phones under € 400 and came out last year. (More cell phones under $500, take a look at our roundup.)

The other choice is the Motorola Moto G7, which sold originally at $300 (£189, AU$349), but now you can get it for cheaper (in the US, Motorola currently has it for $230). For the last couple of years, Motorola G-series has lined up consistently, as some of our favorite budget phone, and the G7 continues this legacy as an exceptional phone for its price.

all in All, we still have the Moto G7 love. It is a fantastic, affordable phone and it will. our Editors’ Choice for its cheap price, good camera and reliable performance But I think that the Galaxy is A50 better, even if it is a bit more expensive. For those that earned it an Editors’ Choice. If you can spare an extra $70, go for the Galaxy A50 over the Moto G7. Although it does not shoot 4K Videos, and I’m not a big fan of Samsung’s UI, the A50 ‘ s-superior camera, more stylish design and longer battery life the better phone.

Galaxy A50 looks better, but has no water protection

Although both phones are similar in size and design, there are a few details that the Galaxy A50 rise above the Moto G7. For example, the Moto G7 has a larger camera bump on the back. Have a bump, not a deal breaker, and a lot of phones have it also on the iPhone. The Galaxy A50 camera is way more flushed out, it will look flatter and slimmer. The on-screen camera cutout for the front camera is also smaller, so it is less noticeable if the contents of the display. Finally, because the Galaxy A50 has a screen, a fingerprint scanner, the device looks more seamless overall. The Moto G7, on the other hand, a reader visible on the back, which is emblazoned with the Motorola logo (and it is a Motorola logo on the front on the bottom bezel), which is not so appealing.

In addition, the Galaxy A50 has an AMOLED display compared to the Moto G7 LCD screen. Although both phones have the same resolution and pixel density, the Galaxy A50 screen is brighter and colors are much more vibrant. Blacks are much darker and inkier than good. When looking at the two phones in different angles, the color deviation in the G7 is heavier on the Moto also. This means that the colors wash out dramatically, and the screen appears to be dimmer at certain angles.

don’t have An advantage of the Moto G7, is that it is slightly water repellent. You can not dive completely under water, but it has a nano-coating that protects it against light, water squirts and squirts. Samsung did not add water protection to the A50.

don’t care about 4K video? Galaxy A50 camera superior clear and bright photos

Both the Galaxy A50 and Moto G7 take, when the conditions are ideal, since in environments with a lot of light. And while the Galaxy A50 only recording of 1080p video (compared to the Moto G7 4K-maximum) is, the Galaxy A50 camera is still in front of the Moto G7 in many ways.

pictures are sharper, so that you can see finer detail in things like leaves and stones. In the low light, the A50 up colors will brighten and punches, while photos with the G7 muddier with a lot of blurred and washed-out colors. The A50 also has a larger dynamic range, i.e., scenes which are exposed with different light situations in the same light in comparison to the Moto G7 I noticed that there were times when the A50’s HDR effect looked a little unrealistic, but I preferred it over the Moto G7 yet. The Galaxy A50 has a second wide-angle camera, which means they capture more of the content within each frame. This is handy if you want to capture expansive landscapes and the landscape.
