On November 13, 2019, 150 Home Assistant community members gathered at ING in Amsterdam for the Home Assistant’s State of the Union in 2019.

this evening, Paulus Schoutsen (founder’s Home Assistant), and Pascal Vizeli (founder of hate.io) presented what Home Assistant is up to, why we do what we do and what we are planning.

OAuth2 account Linking

We have made it easier to use in the Home Assistant for the integrations OAuth2 associate-account. This is from the Home Assistant 0.102. Somfy is the first partner to use it.

It works with a small cloud service, provided by Home Assistant Cloud. It is free to all users, no cloud account required.

Check the updated documentation for developers if you want to add OAuth2 account linking to an integration.

Together with almonds: privacy-preserving virtual assistant

We have, together with the Stanford Open Virtual Assistant laboratory to almond home Assistant users. Almond has been modernized with a Home-Assistant-integration, and users can now almond to talk about the Lovelace-UI.

Ada, the voice assistant will be powered by Home Assistant

We have introduced a new project called Ada. Ada is a voice assistant that to store the processing of the speech-to-text (new!), Conversation and text-to-speech integrations in the Home Assistant. You can choose your own provider for each integration.

Voice for Home-Assistant Cloud

the Nabu Casa has a new beta service offering speech-to-text and text-to-speech services home Assistant Cloud subscribers, powered by Azure Cognitive performance. This will make it easy to get started with Ada or use it to send voice messages to the speaker in your house.

We are working with the Open Z-Wave developer on a new solution, which will allow us the Migration to the new, Open-Z-Wave-1.6 relase and make it easier to stay up-to-date in the future.

Create automations with your voice

We have been able to almond the neural network to the allow users to generate automation with natural language. This means that you can now automation, by told home Assitant to “turn off the light when I get home”, and we convert it to the corresponding automation in the Home Assistant.
