I would like to begin my equipment at home with some dimmers and I have to choose a really difficult time, on a platform. I would like the possibility of controlling more than just a Dimmer, but I don’t have a longing, a defined goal, other than being vague.
I am an electrical engineer who has quite to delete a bit of the system integration and industrial automation, programming (many SPS), so the idea of installing and programming my own system is not a concern. On the contrary, the idea of being my own system is forbidden by the programming, and to be forced to rely on the dealer actually annoys me. I have moved a fairly robust local area network (I and finished the 50+ Cat6 runs during the construction phase, and also by me), so that a bridge, or several bridges, this is not a problem.
I am Select inclination in the direction of Lutron (Caseta or RA2), because I’ve read so many good things about your switch, but I’m hesitant because from what I’ve read about your software. It sounds a bit functionally limited to me. I want to work as much control as possible and prefer to use the software as open as possible, even if it is not particularly user-friendly.
Just to give you an idea of how far I’m willing to go to get what I want, I’m not, for example, in contrast to the idea of changes to the firmware of a RA2 Select bridge, to give it the functionality I want. But hacking the existing firmware to add functionality, is a skill I have not.
Anyway, I was talking about the Lutron quite a bit here, but I’m open to other platforms, if I what I’m looking for.
