Moto G Stylus review: Motorola swaps of battery life with note-taking – CNET
With the launch of the Moto G pen ($300 at Best Buy). and Moto G Power ($250 at Best Buy)., Motorola has something a little strange on their mobile phones: all the numbers from the phone name. Last year, the Chicago-based company the beloved Moto G7 started. In the previous year, it was the Moto G6, and that the Moto G5 and G5 Plus. And while it’s not actually a Moto G8, it is destined for the United States.
- Stunning design
- Solid battery life so far
- Great prices
- pen needs more software features
- Not NFC
instead of numbers, Motorola has hit on a different naming scheme: the phone is the main function in the name. For example, the Moto-G-Power has a gigantic battery, so that the word of power. And the Moto G stylus, as you found out, probably, is a pen.
But these two phones have much more in common than the lack of numbers in your name. At its core, the Moto G pen and Moto G-Power is the same phone. They have the same processor, RAM, screen, fingerprint reader, and a selfie-camera. But things get interesting when you compare the differences between the two budget phones.
At $250, the Moto G Powho is $50 cheaper than the $300 Moto G pen. (The pen is not for sale in the UK or Australia.) The Moto G Makes, looks quiet and reserved in his smoke-Black surface, while the Moto G pen and the Mystical Indigo color will give a nice atmosphere.
I guess the key feature of the Moto G pen. The pen adds a level of precision that makes navigating the phone more efficient. Now, I’m not much of a stylus person, and this feature is not for me. But that’s OK, because the Moto G pen is still a solid featured budget phone.
I’ve been debating whether or not I would recommend the Moto G pen to someone who wants a pen. It would be like buying a convertible car that you never thought of driving with the top down.
I have to assume that is why Motorola released the Moto G pen and Moto G at the same time. If you have a phone with excellent battery life, you get Makes the Moto G. And if you love the precision of a stylus, or enjoy sketching, the Moto G pen waiting for you. But the lack of pen software seems to have features it is more useful. I wish more apps took advantage of the stylus in a software-level.
Maybe another way this is not to say that the Moto G is a $300.
Moto G stylus vs Moto G performance: significant differences
- Moto G pen costs $300, the Moto G Power costs $250
- Moto G pen has a 4,000 mAh battery, the Moto has G 5,000 mAh
- Moto G pen has 128 GB of memory, the Moto G 64 GB
- Apart from the macro-camera, which Makes Moto G and Moto G pen have different rear cameras
- Moto G pen has a built-in stylus
- Moto G pen is a Mystic Indigo, the Moto G comes in Smoke Black
The Moto-G-pen is a bit of a novelty
The Central function of this phone is the stylus. The only other phones I know of with a built-in pen of the Galaxy Note series of phones from Samsung and LG-Stylo series phones. The Galaxy Note 10 starts at $950 and last year, costs $299, but greatly reduced. On the pin phone range with the Galaxy Note 10 at one end and LG Stylo 5 on the other, the Moto G pen, falls in the vicinity of the Stylo-side of things, both in terms of price as well as what you can do with the pen.
The pin fits flush on the bottom-right corner of the phone. You hooked easily, and trigger a fairly simple note-taking app that you can use to create drawings, write notes or just Doodle can open. The pen can also be used to navigate through the phone, markup, screenshots, and edit photos. In contrast to the S Pen on the Galaxy Note 10, there is a Bluetooth connection, so you don’t get to make the functions of pressing the button on the pen is an image.
Motorola has a camera feature called cinemagraph that allows you to make a video, then select parts of the video remain static. You can use the stylus to shade parts of the video with much more precision than just the finger. But how many Cinegraphs are the people really?
The Moto G pen is stunning
Like the Moto G Plower, the Moto G pen has a 6.4-inch full-HD display with a hole-punch, the houses, the selfie-camera. The design gives the phone a modern and high-quality optics.
It has disguised a USB-C port for charging, a headphone Jack and on the back a fingerprint reader, as is the Motorola logo. It does not have to charge wireless, NFC, or an IP rating for water and dust resistance. It is a “splash-proof” coating, however, was able to hand a few drops of water, which I poured out intentionally.
Impressively, the Moto G pen comes with 128 GB of storage and supports expandable storage up to 512 GB. The Moto G pen comes in Mystic Indigo, which looks great. This is the best Moto G budget phone of all time.
The screen is surrounded by thick bezels, which are actually thinner than the one on the iPhone 11. Forehead and chin are a bit clunky, but at least Motorola has with his name on the bottom of the phone, like last year, the Moto G7.
Moto G Stylus power and battery
Power-wise it has a Snapdragon-665-processor, 4GB of RAM, and Android 10 runs with a handful of mostly helpful touches from Motorola such as the Moto Gametime-function, which helps reduce distractions while you play a game. In our performance tests, the Moto G Stylus was better than last year, the Moto G7, but stilland Samsung Galaxy A50. fell short of the year
In daily use, I had no problem surfing games, such as, in the web or YouTube videos. For PUBG, I had the graphics had to “smooth”, and the frame rate at medium, and I have no problems. But when I played Alto ‘ s Odyssey, sometimes the animations stuttered.
gets While the Moto G Makes all the attention for itself, the battery, the Moto G pen is no slouch either with a 4000 mAh battery. I’m still the actual battery tests on the Moto G pen, but in my it is easy to use, lasted two days on a single charge.
I’m going to this piece of update with the final results and ratings when we’re done, our video runs tests for battery life.
Moto G pen’ triple-rear-cameras
The Moto G pen has a 48-megapixel main wide-angle camera, the combine uses a technique called. The advantage is that the phone can take photos with less noise in the medium-to-low-light situations. The phone also has a macro-camera as the Moto G, and a uw-camera as an Action Cam to record Videos (think Go Pro). What is neat is that you don’t need to have your phone in landscape position when you film. No matter what orientation you have your phone, the camera will rotate the video accordingly.
Power On paper, the main camera on the Moto-G-pen is more versatile than the one on the Moto G. But for photos in good light, it’s hard for me to see the differences between the photos on a phone screen. If I notice I compare the images on a computer screen, the Moto G Stylus makes photos taken with a pinch more contrast and pop.
The phone also has a night mode (“Night Vision. No, it’s not everything in a green must-infrared-scene. Instead, it can help to capture in low-light situations, additional Details, sharpness, and brightness. In use I found the fashion a hit-or -. It is not as consistent as the night mode, you can find on the slightly pricer phones.
Perhaps my favorite feature on this phones is the macro-camera, which can be used to take photos and videos to include things ridiculous. I’m honestly amazed I said, the recordings and the phone was able to get to.
But I want to address your expectations. The camera system on the Moto G pen is decent for the price and is better than the Power on the Moto G. But the Google-Pixel-3A, normally $399, can&for $300 and now one of the best cameras on any phone at any price.nbsp;
