iPhone-SE vs. iPhone 8-comparison: The 400 € for an iPhone should you get? – CNET

to lure In an offer price-conscious iPhone fans, Apple debuted its new iPhone-SE, for the year 2020 for $399 (£419, AU$749). The new iPhone-SE specifications and appearance are similar to the iPhone 8 from three years ago, which is probably the reason why the tech company announced that it would be 2017 flagship set on the same day.

When it first debuted, the iPhone 8, costs $699, but the price is lowered to $449, before Apple pulled the plug on it. These days, you can still use the phone from third-party retailers for even less (Walmart, for example, it sells new for $349 on Straight Talk)But if you like the price, don’t think of buying the iPhone 8 the iPhone-SE-2020,. The iPhone-SE share many of the iPhone 8 specs, but for $50 more you get more mileage from a phone, not a three-years-old, out-of-the-box. (And if $399 is absolutely out of your budget, consider shopping for even cheaper phones.)

If you need more reasons, but let’s walk through the two models and explains why the iPhone-SE is to buy smarter.

Apple

Although it shares many key specs of the new iPhone-SE has a few upgrades that make it better than the iPhone 8. With a A13-Bionic-processor, dual-SIM capabilities and a handful of camera upgrades. (Neither phone has a headphone Jack, in case you were wondering.) If you are looking for an affordable new iPhone from a reliable dealer with up-to-date-support the iPhone-SE is your best bet.

If you already have a well-functioning iPhone 8 there is no reason to update to a new iPhone-SE, if you can help her. But if you do not try to buy a new one,. In addition to the iPhone-SE-2020-upgrades you will miss (I listed above), it gives the probability that the software updates from Apple and the customer support m, no matter where you buy the iPhone, of 8. May not be as robust on a 3 years old device than on a new one. Although it is difficult to have a tangible monetary value on things like reliable iOS updates, a robust right of return and a potentially higher resale value, it is worth spending a bit more for these features. (Speaking of trade-ins, Apple offers $170 from the iPhone-SE if you your iPhone 8.)

you Need to be more specific? Here is a more in-depth, walkthrough of how the two iPhones stacked.

Design: Both iPhones are nearly identical, but…

in contrast to the iPhone-SE and the iPhone 11, to look different, at a glance, the iPhone and the iPhone 8 will look relatively the same. Both have a 4.7-inch Retina HD display (branding terms, the Apple used, different density of the display technology) with the same resolution and pixel. You also have to button, a physical home that houses to authorize a fingerprint reader to unlock the phone, and is the author of digital payments. Both are IP67 rated for water protection.

The new iPhone-SE looks a lot like the iPhone 8.

But there are two small differences to the phones. One is that the iPhone 8 still has 3D Touch. The function debuted in the year 2015 in the iPhone 6S, so that you can press to access additional menu options and commands of the hardware your finger against the screen. Apple began the phase of the function in 2018 with the iPhone XR and it is not now of the new iPhones. Instead, the company replaced the 3D-Touch-the haptic Touch. Haptic Touch on the iPhone, SE and work relatively the same way, only instead of pressing down harder on the screen, you just have to long-press on the Element.

the Second, the iPhone 8 comes in black, white and gold — but the inventory is limited, depending on the dealer, you will find even less options. The iPhone-SE, in the meantime, now available and comes in black, white and red.

camera: iPhone-SE has to have some hidden extras

The iPhone and the iPhone 8, both a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 7 megapixel front-facing shooter, with the same openings on both (f/1.8 and f/2.2, respectively). On the surface, it looks as if there is no difference between the two phones, the cameras, but Apple are some useful camera upgrades under the hood. These include:

  • format portrait and to improve Depth control for the recording and adjustment of bokeh photos
  • Smart HDR, highlights, and shadows
  • Red-eye correction
  • quick take, you can record a quick video, without the knocking from the photo-mode
  • Video improvements: Extended dynamic range 30 fps; 3x digital zoom (the iPhone has 8 2x); cinematic video stabilization for 4K video (the iPhone 8 has it, only up to 1080p) and stereo-recording
  • Front camera: portrait mode and cinema-video stabilization up to 1080p (iPhone 8)

Overall, iPhone SE recorded better quality photos and Videos than the iPhone 8 and the of times have photos comparable to the iPhone 11. For more on camera quality, read CNET’s iPhone-SE-validation.

processor, battery, dual SIM

The iPhone is equipped with Apple’s latest proprietary A13 Bionic chip, the the in iPhone 11 flagship. If we ran, processing, performance speeds on 3DMark and Geekbench 5, the iPhone-SE clocked similar results with the iPhone-11, that is to say that the iPhone-SE carried out, is comparable — and better than — the Galaxy S20, pixels-4 and OnePlus 8 Pro. And compared to the iPhone 8, iPhone-SE, the result for 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited test miles was about the iPhone 8 (97,415 in comparison to the iPhone 8 62,206-score).

Apple never reveals its iPhone with battery capacity, so that when it announced the iPhone-SE, all it said was that it was the same as the iPhone 8. It is also listed identical wireless video-and audio-playback-hours (13 hours and 40 hours, respectively) for both phones. However, when we ran our battery test for video playback in airplane mode, the iPhone, the SE lasted longer than the iPhone 8, by almost two hours. (To be precise, the iPhone-SE lasted for about 15.5 hours, while the iPhone 8, which lasted 13.5 hours.)

In addition, the iPhone-SE options for a nano-SIM and e-SIM, that is to say, you can manage two phone numbers on the same phone. With dual-SIM-features is handy, if you combine a lot of traveling and need a cell phone abroad, or you have two phones for domestic and commercial use and want it in a device. Finally, while both phones have a 64-GB and 256-GB-memory-option, the new iPhone-SE has a third, 128GB model. This ability is commonly as the “sweet spot” as far as storage. This is because the 64 GB may not be enough to be extravagant to hold all your photos and 4K videos, 256GB may be.
