iPhone 11 vs. iPhone XR: We put cameras, battery life, and speed to the test – CNET
If Apple has its, in September it came as a surprise that their base-model, the iPhone 11, , £729, and AU $1,199 debuted — $50 cheaper than last year, , if it. Due to the new line-up of the company, the iPhone-XR lowered price to $599, £629 and AU$1,049. With the new price-points in mind, we compare the new iPhone 11, 2018 iPhone XR to see which mobile phone to buy is the better today.

in short, in spite of the iPhone 11 better camera and more modern connectivity hardware, we prefer the iPhone XR. The iPhone XR is simply the better value and is worth saving $100 over the iPhone 11.
With two back cameras, night-photographing mode and a 12-megapixel front-facing shooter, the iPhone 11 more tricks up my sleeve for photos and videos. But in comparison to the iPhone XR, the already fantastic images and Videos, the advantages are easy for the extra $100 you pay. In addition, the iPhone 11 will have a new U1 chip and Wi-Fi 6, and Gigabit has LTE capabilities. You will see these next-gen features in future iPhones and Android devices, so if you want a modern phone for the next few years, the iPhone 11 the best bet. But since Wi-Fi 6, and Gigabit-LTE is not fully built-out networks, you will not see any immediate benefits-another reason why we still prefer the iPhone XR.

It could have in the last year, the processor and specs, but for $100 you will save with the iPhone, XR, we think it’s worth it. It has a longer battery life, and it runs iOS 13, exactly as fluid as the iPhone 11 on the A12 chipset. Though it’s not an underwater camera, and the updated tech camera, the iPhone XR works well for posting photos on Instagram and social media. In General, if you are on a tight budget, the iPhone is the XR is still a great value. We would recommend either pocketing that $100 for something else or use it to upgrade to the 128 GB model and still have $50 left.

How we tested
Design: Nearly identical and still be as durable
The iPhone 11 and XR look almost identical — the fastest way to identify them is to bump of the iPhone 11 with the additional camera and place. But other than that, and the different colors to choose from (iPhone 11 comes in lavender, mint green and pastel-yellow, while the phone is XR comes in a Canary yellow, coral and blue), there are no obvious differences. You are weighing the same size and the same, and the phones have the same density of 6.1-inch LCD display with the same resolution and pixel.
We conducted a series of drop tests on the iPhone 11, and XR, and both phones are very robust. We left the iPhone 11 on the front and back on smooth concrete from 3 feet, 6 feet and 8 feet 7 inches. All falls will crack the phone glass and screen. It was a small, cosmetic scratches on the camera lens of 8 meters, but the camera lens was perfectly fine.

If we dropped the iPhone-XR last year, we dropped it on a concrete citizens. At the height of the waist (about 3 meters), the phone’s camera glass cracked, but on the back glass survived. The screen was intact. At eye level (or about 5 meters), the iPhone-XR-survived a fall on the back without any new damage, but if we left it on his screen, the display finally cracked. Although that was unfortunate, the fact that the iPhone XR survived waist high drops, was still good.
Both phones are water-resistant, but the iPhone 11 has a higher IP protection class of IP68 and can survive under water for 2 meters (approximately 6.5 feet) for 30 minutes The iPhone XR, meanwhile, is rated to IP67 and can survive underwater up to a depth of 1 meter (about 3 feet) for 30 minutes on paper. If we held, however, took it on dives in the last year, the iPhone-XR on ticking even after 19 minutes under water at a depth of 5 meters (16.4 feet). Because the iPhone XR could endure more than the listed IP rating, the iPhone 11, can to Excel in the position of its IP68 rating. We have not tested the phone’s water-resistance, but, but we’ll have it up soon. Check back with CNET when we do it.
camera: New updates give iPhone 11 the edge
Both phones have a 12-megapixel camera, but the iPhone 11 has a second, 12-megapixel underwater camera and a new night mode for low-light photography. All in all, outdoors and in a well-lit photos on both devices look similar to vibrant, consistent, and bright coloring, the both of the cameras.
But, the iPhone 11 has, above all, sharper pictures with finer details, in particular, when images are viewed at full resolution. It also has better job brightening of the night and dim photos with the new mode. The second underwater camera is useful if you want to fit more content into each frame, or you want to capture more expansive scenes. The flash is a bit brighter as well, although we rarely use the function. Finally, we do not want, that we now have portrait-recognize photos of Pets on the iPhone 11 (iPhone XR, non-human faces for portraits, which is a drag). Soon also on the iPhone 11, the, to further improve the detail and reduce the image.
As in the case of Videos, recordings on the telephone 11 has range a little better dynamic, so the lighting and exposure looks more even and natural. Video stabilization is a bit firmer than on the standard 12-megapixel camera. But the wide-angle camera has no optical image stabilization, and while 4K video recording, you can switch between the cameras if you are shooting in 30fps (although both cameras with 60 fps).
On the front of the iPhone 11, a 12-megapixel camera, while the iPhone XR has a 7-megapixel camera. While we welcome the higher resolution of the iPhone 11, we never really had many gripes with the iPhone-XR-front-facing camera, and if it is a casual selfie-taker, the iPhone-XR is definitely satisfactory. The iPhone 11 with the front camera can also drag to a broader point of view, the recording of 4K Videos at 60fps and take slow-mo videos. But since we mostly use the front camera for selfies, we really do not find us with the last two functions often.
iPhone 11 is faster, but the XR battery last longer
The iPhone 11 Apple’s newest A13 Bionic processor and a battery that the company claims to be the last “one hour longer” than the iPhone XR. The iPhone XR last year, the A12 chipset and a 2,942-mAh-battery (this ability is not known by Apple, but is revealed by the teardowns conducted by a third party).
For the most part, the iPhone 11 and XR-both running iOS 13 as smooth and fast as the other. If it does not recognize day-to fire-to-day tasks, such as surfing the web, the camera or open any of the apps, we were able to, all of the speed differences. But on paper, the iPhone 11, the faster the phone is, without a doubt. How to use the iPhone XR can see by surpassed the benchmark results below, the newer iPhones far, and scored significantly higher on all the tests that we ran.
As for the battery life, Apple claims that the iPhone holds 11 battery last longer than the iPhone XR. But when we tested it for continuous video playback in airplane mode, the iPhone 11 clocked an average of only 15 hours and 24 minutes. While this is certainly not a bad time, the iPhone XR lasted for an impressive 19 hours and 53 minutes, which is not only impressive, but was one of the longest phones that we tested in the last year.
iPhone 11 is more future-proof, but the advantage of the. to come later
iPhone 11 has a new U1-chip for “Geo-awareness”, according to Apple, and it helps, iPhones other iPhones, more accurately, if you are in the immediate vicinity The new chip also allows “point your iPhone in the direction of someone else, and AirDrop set the priorities of the devices so you can share files faster.” Many believe that the U1 chip is actually the Foundation for the long Apple-tile-tracker-rumored.
iPhone 11 Wi-Fi 6, which is the next generation of wireless networks. As CNET Senior Editor Ry Crist says, “Wi-Fi 6 “supports the faster top transfer speeds, devices can send more information with each transmission; allows routers and other access points service multiple devices at once; can, the sensors and other wireless devices to conserve battery power by scheduling of transmissions; and better, faster performance in dense, crowded environments such as airports and stadiums.” But you will not likely see all the benefits in your iPhone now 11. Wi-Fi 6 is not official yet, and Wi-Fi-6-Router are expensive.
iPhone 11 has Gigabit-LTE, an advanced version of 4G LTE. Gigabit LTE is really fast and can reach maximum speeds of 1 gigabit per second, which is about the same speed as a fixed line internet connection. Apple has Gigabit LTE on his iPhone XS and XS-Max in the year 2017, but the iPhone XR, strangely enough, was left out of the update. But the iPhone 11 has you, and while you will not likely&these speeds all the time, the overall speed will be faster than an older phone, and you have much more freedom when it comes to the possible speed.nbsp;
iPhone 11 comes in a 256-GB-model. At $849, £879, AU$1,449 it is more expensive, but if you take a lot of photos and shoot a lot of videos, the extra onboard memory will come in handy-especially if you really use cloud storage. Currently, Apple is selling only the 64GB and 128GB models of the iPhone XR.
