iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, 2 months later: The uw camera is still our favorite thing – CNET

I the last couple of months with the iPhone 11 and 11 Per day.

Angela Long/CNET

In a season filled with new mobile phone releases such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, and the Google Pixel 4, the new iPhone 11, 11 Pro and Pro-Max impressed me early on. Apple Packed its latest phone with a new uw camera, a A13 processor, Night mode for photos, iOS-13, and one of the best all-around camera systems on every mobile phone today. Plus, the two Pro models have an improved battery life.

in the past two months, I have the iPhone 11 as my daily driver and the 11 in addition to my work, Tel. During this time, CNET has also diving in-depth-tests case mobile phone, under water and comparison of cameras with other phones. Here are my thoughts on these two phones, the in the course of my use.

iOS-13: From the buggy, stable

When I first got the phones, the software is rough felt. The camera app on the iPhone 11 Pro, often froze and crashed. Screens did not always scale and rotate correctly. After seven software updates, I’m using iOS 13.2.3 now, and everything seems relatively stable.

that being said, there are a couple of things about the iOS 13, you need some work. If I send someone a text, the key messages and put my phone on the table, I accidentally hit the dictation all the time. I’m right-handed and the microphone icon in the lower right corner of the messages-keyboard. This is driving me nuts.

The home screen on iOS is too boring. I wish there was more flexibility for the organization of app icons, in order to reach them easier. Samsung UI change for the galaxy phone-easy to use interface easier and more natural. In Samsung UI app icons, the pop-up window and folder-use the bottom part of the screen. This makes the phone easier to operate with one hand.

The ability to move icons freely, which would allow people to apps, the in the direction of the bottom of the screen for easier one-handed use.

Angela Long/CNET

On iPhone, app Icons fill the home screen the same way as you read a book: from left to right, top to bottom. It would be wonderful if I could free symbols in any position on the home screen. And if that is not possible, only an option to fill the screen, from the bottom to the top would help with one-handed use.

Some of these problems are solved with the built-in feature known as reachability, which slides the entire display down so that the top fills the bottom of the phone temporarily. The disadvantage is that it requires an additional wipe before and after you open an application, the top of the screen. They allow me to move app icons where I wanted, especially the accessibility to make unnecessary, at least on the home screen, and you save me to get additional entries.

In iOS 13 Select on the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, also I Select the hardest time always/Everything-tool for the selection of text. I don’t know whether to do it has a Touch with the lack of 3D on the new iPhones, or if it is a straight-up error. But when I try to select a word or phrase that I can’t get the right touch, pressure, or duration, the Select/Select All tool in the pop-up. And sometimes, when it works, the tool disappears too quickly. I’m not sure what’s going on, but it is annoying.

Speaking of annoying, iOS-13, when you create a new note in the note app and type a sentence automatically formatted as a heading. I hate this because I just want to input the actual body of my note to start, especially if I’m making a list. In earlier versions of iOS-title-formatting was not enabled by default. Now there are probably people who would love to start, the rights to the title. I’m not you. If you can start a “title” person like me, you can fix this, format anarchy, by you in the Settings – > Notes > with New notes, and change it back to “body”, you write the actual Text of your note.

battery: iPhone 11 Pro battery life has actually

improved On the inside, the two phones are exactly the same Do you have an A13 processor and the same amount of RAM, even when Apple is not exactly how much. I have not noticed any difference in performance between the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Per Max.

But in terms of battery, there are differences. In my use, the 11 Pro lasted longer on a charge than last year, the iPhone XS. I can usually go a day and a half between charges on the iPhone 11 Pro. And I can easily stretch that to two days with a Low-Battery mode. On the 11th, I have a solid day of use on a single charge. If I can not use it hard, playing games or watching videos, it will take a day and a half. But if you want the best battery life, the iPhone 11 Pro-Max is the way to go.

The new iPhones have to charge all wireless charging and support for fast, but only the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro-Max come with the 18-watt charger is needed to use, quick charging. It is strange how something that sounds so ordinary, as a quick recharge really my consumption patterns changed with my iPhone. I have a charger by charging my phone over night to charge over my lunch break with the fast. But it is not annoying that the 11 comes with this charger and if you want to, you have to buy it separately. To make matters worse, Apple charges $29 for the 18-watt, quick charger and $19 for the cable.

The iPhone 11 is an ideal phone for photographers

When I first got the phones, I thought the new uw camera is perhaps more of a gimmick. But I was later able to a fan, as they show more of a scene in my frame. For example, I was at O’hare airport in Chicago, and a photo of a dinosaur wanted-skeleton is wearing a bears Jersey. I could not switched on all the dino in the picture with the main camera, but when I do, the ultrawide angle of the camera, the whole skeleton to fit my photo. (For the record, I’m not a bears fan.)

The photo on the left was taken with the main camera on the iPhone 11. The image on the right was taken with the uw-camera.

I also like how the uw-camera challenges me to be creative. To keep I have you to prevent the phone is different, my fingers in the picture. The incredibly large field of vision, distorted the shapes and forces, to find me interesting ways to frame my subject. To find, for example, in the picture below from the Milwaukee Art Museum, I was able to get an angle that exaggerated the building, the curved lines will make you look even more dramatic.

The new phones also Deep Fusion, which is a new processing technique that makes photos under medium to low light sharper and with less noise in the image. It offers improvements, albeit subtle, will be taken for photos in the interior, and with the Pro-s Tele-camera. On the pictures below to watch a pay-phone, the I in a dimly lit U-Bahn station. One is taken with the iPhone 11 equipped with Deep merger and the other using the iPhone’s XR. The iPhone 11 photo is sharper and has less image noise and less noise reduction blur. The best way to think, to Deep Fusion is not to remember, and the iPhone let it do its thing.

When I first tested the 11 and 11 Pro, I mode out of night strong. It is absolutely impressive, as it apparently see in the dark. I like that it will work only begins. I think not, think, have, change a button, or change a camera mode. Some more control over the night mode might be, I like to just be able to take a photo. Check out the night mode, see the photo below of the Chicago Water Tower.

The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max a third of the Tele-camera and the iPhone 11 will not have. For the most part, if I I don’t miss the 11 that have a Tele-camera. If I needed to punch in to work on a photo, a 2x crop of a image taken with the main camera. With the Pro models, it was nice to be able to switch to the Tele-camera. And compared with the XS, the updated telephoto camera on the 11 Pro has a better picture quality combined with Deep Fusion processing. But with the Tele-camera on the Pro models is a bit like the famous scene from this Is Spinal Tap is declared, as Nigel Tufnel, how to use the dials on his amplifier to 11. “If we need that extra push over the cliff, know what we are doing? 11. Exactly. One louder.”

The selfie camera is a welcome update. I can really notice the improvements in the recording of videos. Colors, especially tones, skin will look more flattering, objects, and faces are sharper and more contrast.

Video capture is an area that the Apple is consistently ahead of its competitors. Extended dynamic range, which is a kind of HDR for videos, now works on all 4K frame rates, that is, I can record 4K video with 60 frames-per-second of a scene with really bright and very dark areas It is amazing how Apple is able to this kind of image quality from such a small image sensor. It’s also fun to be able to record video with uw-camera, in particular, the possibility of the camera movements with the Opera arias in context. I also like that I changed the video resolution and frame rate, directly from the camera app, instead of diving into the settings.

A point of criticism, however, is that in low light, the videos suffer from noise and heavy noise reduction smears. Most of the other phones with this fight, but.

for more on the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro-cameras, take a look at our following comparisons:

Design: durability and OLED vs. LCD-screens

I’m a monster and I don’t use phone cases. This means, my phones, take everything full force. Even after a few accidental drops with the iPhone 11 Pro no cracks, dents or fine scratches due to keys and coins. However, there are two deep scratches on the screen and I’m not sure how I got it. I think that the iPhone is 11, the camera bump may have rubbed against the screen of my iPhone 11 Pro while in my backpack.

don’t know a part of me that most people are going to be in this scenario with two mobile phones, or scratch each other. But the other part of me looks at the two scratches on my 11-Per-display, and is upset. Many people put their phone in a pocket. And even if you don’t have a second cell phone in the same pocket, you probably have a lot of other things that could cause such a deep scratch.

Alternatively, my iPhone 11 took a few spills on the sidewalk, but the screen and the glass in the rear still look like new. The only noticeable flaw is a tiny scratch on the aluminum tape.

CNET editor Lexy Savvides both, 11 and 11 Per by a series of intense tests under water-and drop. Your phones fared much better than my 11 Pro. Check out their examination:

As for the screen, the OLED display on the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max has a higher resolution than the LCD screen on the iPhone 11. When I look at the phones side by side, you will see the screen on the iPhone 11 Pro better than the iPhone 11. It is brighter, and I really enjoy watching videos and editing photos. That is, side by side, the differences between the two screens can be difficult to notice. The LCD screen on the iPhone 11 is no slouch either. The colors are correct, and I never had any problems with it.

iPhone 11 11 Pro vs. iPhone: Here are the should you get

The iPhone 11 Pro absolutely the best iPhone ever, but the iPhone 11 one of the best values for a flagship phone that you can buy is made today. Despite the differences, the iPhone 11 is substantially 85% of the iPhone 11 Pro, but costs 30% less. This is an amazing value, and one of the reasons why the iPhone 11 received a CNET Editors’ Choice award.

For most people, including myself, the iPhone 11 is more than enough. I would pay $50 more for the 11 upgrade the memory from 64GB to 128GB. But here’s the wrinkle: the size. I love the size of the iPhone 11 Pro. It is a bit smaller than the 11 and this could be the reason to Pro. It also works Vice-versa also. If you want the biggest screen and the long battery life, the iPhone 11 Pro Max there waiting to fill your bag and empty your wallet.
