In this week’s play: IO, confirmed Hitman 3 the development of BioWare’s Dragon Age news for next month

teases you wanted to mock the “slow news week?” in my General direction…well, this week. Maybe it’s because Red Dead Redemption 2 released, perhaps it is because we are closed in the holidays, but there’s not much going on right now.

IO has kind-of-announce Hitman 3, though, so there’s that—plus, Payday 2 published a new heist for the first time in a year, Hideo Kojima, has broadened its horizons, Kerbal Space Program 2 was delayed (I guess), BioWare teased Dragon Age news, and China cracked down on children playing Fortnite. Or PUBG? Probably one of the two.

This is gaming news for the 4. November 8.

Epic freebies worth grabbing

We are on the Epic Games Store is the one-year anniversary in December. The free game give-aways at the end, when we hit that milestone? No one knows it. Better appreciate it while it lasts, but—and this means that the collection of copies of Nuclear Throne and Ruiner is both a top-down Shooter, this week.

And next week, a rare a-game-lottery for Epic. You will be able to, copies of The messenger next Thursday.

On a less permanent basis, both American Truck Simulator and Payday 2 free– – this weekend. The latter is particularly noteworthy because there is also a new “border crossing” heist, the first paid content for Payday 2 in over a year. Starbreeze said it was a reboot of the active development on Payday 2, and here’s the proof.

Hitman 2 hits its one-year anniversary on Saturday, and IO’s you celebrate in style. Eight escalation contracts, five new items, two suits, and more arrive in the next few weeks. There is even a pirate costume. You can find more details here or in the trailer below.

But there is more. Buried at the bottom of the IO’s blog post is a serious note about the state of the Hitman 2 for the future. The important part? “We are moving more and more of the Hitman 2 team to join the next Hitman game, which is going well.”

In other words, Hitman 3 is in development. This is good news, I rumors that Hitman 2 under the heard-by—the rumors seemed all but confirmed when IO said a few months ago that there is a non-Hitman game in the works. Fortunately, a side-project seems to be, and there are more of Agent 47 to come.

There be dragons

Dragon Age 4 is probably years away, but maybe we will find out how many years, soon or find out something at least. BioWare, after they already invented “N7 day” to commemorate the Mass Effect this week Twitter “See you on 12/4 for Dragon 4ge day.” Convoluted corporate holiday aside, presumably you will have something to say on 4. December, either about the upcoming sequel, or maybe a remaster of Dragon Age: Origins.

I’m fucking curious, or so, to as the hymn‘s essentially a write-at this point. BioWare has a steep uphill battle to restore peoples trust.

beach movies

Metal Gear Solid 4 holds the Guinness world record for the longest cutscene sequence: 71 minutes. One could argue, Hideo Kojima, has/films for quite a while.

it is Now official, though. In a BBC documentary this week on the death of Stranding, Kojima said his studio is in film production in the future. His Reason? “If you can do one thing well, then you can do everything well.” Ready to hold me, to try to see the pole vaulting, in this case, and also curious about what the brain with a two-hour runtime comes the hell out of Kojima’s constraint.

Oh, and speaking of which: steam and Epic pages for the death of Stranding went live, the rest of the rumors that it would be an Epic exclusive.

super-liminal comes from the era where every indie game, Portal, but with a unique gimmick wanted to be. In super-liminal‘s case, perspective, mystery. I vaguely remember it playing on a PAX or GDC or something forever ago, but it is finally done and there’s a new trailer below, if you would like to advance, you will get an idea of his matter manipulation-next-week release.

Apparently, Kerbal Space Program 2 was supposed to before March 2020. Did you know that? I didn’t know that—and it doesn’t matter now anyway. During an earnings call this week, Take Two announced a delay of its 2021 fiscal year, or in other words, up to a year delay. I don’t expect that it will take quite a long time, but then again, I didn’t realise it was so near the release.

ground war

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare added a couple of new cards this week. I’m mostly excited about Krovnik arable land, a much-needed addition for the 64-player in the “Ground War” mode. It is my favorite mode, the sheer Chaos, but the two existing cards have already been weeks of growing repetitive after only a few.

If you’re curious, what else is coming, data mining (via Reddit) seems to have leaked many of the upcoming cards—including modern takes on Call of Duty of the classic “Rust” and “shipment”.”

A long while in Babylon

PC gamers discovered this nice city generator Nebuchadnezzar this week. In the way of Caesar III and Pharaoh, it’s an isometric game, with a focus on ancient history of Babylon is, in this case. They construct huge monuments, setting up resource chains, Nebuchadnezzar‘s influences are obvious. It would be great to have a Caesar with a modernized style and interface, though, so consider my interest piqued.

Finally, news from China this week—and it’s not Blizzard related go, for once. The Chinese government introduced new rules for online games, and children.

There are three important components, via CNN:

  1. minors are flat-out of play games between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  2. forbidden online

  3. Within the acceptable hours, and minors, are still limited to 90 minutes of playing time per day on weekdays, three hours per day of the week.
  4. the

  5. spending is also limited—at around $30 per month for younger children and $60 per month for those between 16 and 18 years of age.

considering how much the industry has stressed that China will be looking forward in the past few years, I whether these new restrictions (or future restrictions) wider financial impact—and whether we see ourselves, start to similar laws in other countries. Dental floss, while you can, kids.
