How to host a virtual Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney+ and YouTube watch parties

Due to the coronavirus, and social distance, traditional video watch parties are in the table right now, but you can certainly still view movies and TV shows with loved ones. Thanks to the efforts of a few large developers have, they can you stream movies and TV shows in perfect synchronization by installing a simple browser extension on your laptop or desktop computer. 

Of the options out there, TwoSeven stands out as my favorite in the series. This add-on is one of the most versatile, with support for Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Hulu, Disney+, YouTube, Vimeo, and other web-based streaming sites (like Crunchyroll), and even files stored locally on a computer. You can use it in Firefox and Chrome, and the interface even has built-in audio and video chat for the exchange reactions in real time. It feels as close as you can get to an in-person gathering.

(note: Hulu, and Disney+ are paid functions. However, in March 18, the TwoSeven team is a special, cheaper $3 per month created “Social spacers” Patreon animal access to both services.)

Here is how to install it and get your virtual party.

step 1: Install the extension in Chrome or Firefox

the TwoSeven extension in the Chrome Web Store. Click on the to key Chrome to Add, then Add extension in the dialog box that appears. After a successful installation, a new tab will open the TwoSeven shows the changelog.

Hop on the TwoSeven extension in Firefox is the collection of add-ons. To Add click on the Firefox button, then Add in the dialog box that appears. After a successful installation, a new tab will open the TwoSeven shows the changelog.

When you install this extension, it will ask you for permission to scan all of the websites you visit, in order to find all of the videos that can be placed in a screening room for you and your friends.

Chrome is not granted by default, extensions have access to Private Windows, but Firefox offers the option, after the installation is complete. Skip this step if you are using your browser in incognito mode for sensitive sites (banks, government services, etc).

Separately, twoseven.xyz States which do not collect it, the login data for streaming services. For more information, visit the team at the FAQ.

step 2: Create you to host a TwoSeven account

In order or join, a screening room, you have a TwoSeven account. You can do this by clicking directly on the twoseven.xyz-website or by clicking on the extension icon in your browser and select the Login twoseven.xyz.

be sure to check your E-Mail address after creating an account—you will not be able to log in otherwise.

step 3: Host or join a screening room

host a room:

head to the website you from sync to a stream. Registration is required for access to content, to work all of the members in the room need to be logged in for TwoSeven.

Load the page for the video you want to view, then click on the TwoSeven extension icon in your browser. The drop-down menu shows a list of what the add-on is of the opinion that Film or TV episode.

Choose the option that is the right length of time, and then the extension will open a new browser tab with the selection in the queue in a twoseven.xyz-hosted-space.

    • Who controls the room: in The Standard setting everyone in the room can control the playback synchronized. In order to control these limits, only you as the leader of the group.

For the adjustment of the General settings (like default room settings, video settings, and your profile information) click on your avatar in the upper-right corner of the screen, then select Account.

The link for the map of the room you come directly from your host or through a TwoSeven-generated E-Mail invite. You open to load a new browser tab or window, the room.

step 4: Watch the video—and all to see the others!

video is now as easy as pressing the Play button. Depending on the room settings, the participants, and you stop the Videos for all, or the host can fully control.

warning: Be aware of the fact that in the free-for-all scenario, someone enter the room, after the video has started, it will reset the video to its starting point by pressing the Play! If the host has locked down control of the play, late arrivals will automatically synchronize”, where the group in the video.

If a host has control over the playback has locked, other group members can still start and stop the video, but out-of-sync from the rest of the group. Resync, find an exclamation mark, the arrows on the upper-right corner of the video, then click on the icon.

For the next experience to a real-life-watch-party, turn off audio and/or video chat within TwoSeven window by clicking on the small camera and the microphone icon on the right side of the screen. (By default, it is turned off automatically when you enter a room.) The extension will grant access to your computer, a microphone and a video camera. Not a separate program like Skype, Hangouts or zoom is required, to hear and to see all the reactions in real time.

A text-chat window and emoji-reactions are not the options for the exchange of thoughts and feelings, if the audio and video Chats possible.

Video Windows are adjustable in size, so you may want to see the other person as big (or as small) as you. You can also use/mute individual people.

tips and suggestions

    to minimize

  • If your group is larger than two people, you can lock the controls for the playback of chaos.
       
  • the

  • As the audio chat is active, you have to listen to all of the participants with headphones, in order to have the space (or make sure that everyone can remember, to mute even if they are). Otherwise, an echo picking through multiple speakers up to the audio and then run it again through all the microphones.
       
  • the

  • In our tests, TwoSeven audio and video working chat best for small groups of four people or less. For larger watch parties, we ran into problems, so that you ‘ ll be better with a separate program like Skype, Hangouts or Zoom for audio and video communication. (Zoom-in, in particular, a large Brady–style layout for each person, the video feed, so it is easy to see, all at once.)

  • Third party cookies need to be enabled for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Disney+ work. (Most people don’t need to check on this setting, but if these services do not work, make this your first Troubleshooting step.)
