Home Assistant for each

Home-helper for everyone

With the Home Assistant, we want to help people, live their lives, while the support in the background. I wrote this in the year 2016, when I detailed my vision of the perfect home automation. We since then have it.

In the year 2019, we have focused on “Ease” (see State of the Union, for details). We made use home Assistant easier to use, to configure and to wear. Every time we make it easier to be accessible to more people. There are still a ton of, we can make easier, and that’s great, because by 2020, it is around the corner and we need to do things to 🙂

During the thanksgiving, home wizard made it to #1 on Hacker News, a social news website with a focus on computer science and entrepreneurship. The comments had lots of users chiming in with their positive experiences. One comment stood out to me, and I wanted to share to:

Just wanted to say that my life would be like as a quadriplegic 13.4 million percent more shit without a Home Assistant. As a quadriplegic, and have something as open as the Home Assistant is absolutely amazing, I have automated absolutely everything, what is not in the house and home assistant choked once.

a Couple that with one of the friendliest communities for a beginner, I’ve come across in a long time, and you have something really awesome.

I have been using it for a few years, I have tried all the other open source alternatives, but nothing really close for me. I’m actually fiddling with my installation now, as you were.

I can’t plug my phone in to charge it, of course, so I write automated a little, it will check who’s in the house and announces through the speakers of my cell phone needs to be charged, up to or send an SMS-message, when I your phone number when my phone gets below 20%

Very cool beanz and I am totally serious, how much easier it makes my life as a quadriplegic.

This is just great. I love how these users a more comfortable life you can live. It is really motivational.

I also really like the first response to the above comment. It illustrates how we tend to judge things from our point of view and our point of view, could not the whole picture.

Thank you for your comment. I came to this discussion with my blinders on, so to speak, pre -judging, as I need less automation in my world, and give specific instructions on how someone “can be compensated meh” due to countless benefits (13.4 million, in fact) of such a system.

thank you, for making me humble and enlargement of my views. Sometimes more tech is helpful, in fact.

Ps: The way you apply it is creative and awesome!

growing As a Home Assistant and developed, we make sure that we don’t judge, the additions and changes on the basis of only our own perspective and needs. Consider how you can help other (potential) Home Assistant users. It is our goal that the privacy focused home-automation platform is accessible to everyone, regardless of their origin, place of residence or income.
