Atomico see to Bother the highest-ranking VCs on stage, Berlin
Atomico is among the most prestigious venture firms in Europe, ranking up there with friendly rivals such as Accel London and Index Ventures.
It is also only 13 years old at this time, in comparison to their more established colleagues. It is easy to overlook, when Zennström, the influence of the company on the European startup scene since, Swedish billionaire Niklas — who had previously been opening a co-founder of Skype and Kazaa first swung its doors.
keep in mind that four funds and $1.5 billion dollars in assets under management later, Atomico is now among Europe’s largest early-stage Fund. It is also one of the most enviable portfolios with companies that include Klarna (a value of $5.5 billion), graph core (to the value of $1 billion), stripe (valued at $35 billion) and a compass (to the value of $6.4 billion Euro), as well as a growing long list of price-makers, including Climate Corp., sold back to Monsanto for $1.1 billion, in the year 2013.
In fact, it was through this last investment the Atomico the first time, Siraj Khaliq, the now senior members of the Atomico team met and who will develop with us on stage at TechCrunch Berlin next week for a wide-ranging discussion about where Atomico is shopping and how the different regions it covers.
Khaliq previously founded and served as CTO of The climate Corp. and now leads Atomico’s “frontier” – investment team. He speaks with us in the company, most of the other leading members, including Niall Wass, the co-leads for the company’s consumer investment team; Sophia Bendz, the lead Atomico Nordic investment sourcing, as well as its angel program; and Hiro Tamura, the co-leads for the company’s consumer investment team with Wass and also leads its later-stage investment team. (Tamura is also the senior partner at Atomico, according to Zennström.)
