Apple software to be features be grateful for

It’s that time of year here in the US, where we take a break from the reader everything through the lens of what technology companies can do in the future, and instead remind us of all the things we have already in the present. And, Yes, inspired by my colleague Jason Snell views of the tech accessories that he, I thought, grateful that I would take a similar turn, and run some software skills, without the I could just.

Some of them are marquee features, the other unsung heroes, but they all have one thing in common: they are things that I day, day, and my life just wouldn’t be the same if you were there. So, in the spirit of the holiday, here’s the Apple software are features that I am most thankful for.

airdrop icon mac Apple

remember When you are old enough, the days when moving files back and forth between computers, to plug the try it on a floppy disk, the idea that they could seamlessly seems to transfer a huge image, a PDF or even a video file between two devices over the air, such as witchcraft. I use AirDrop every single day, mostly to move files from my iPhone to my Mac, but it compounds is also proven to be of inestimable value for the send a file to, say, my wife, if one or both of us have reliable Internet. Honestly, it is an Apple function, the feeling is still, years later, like magic.

Apple music

apple, music, mac-icon Apple

For a very long time, I bought into the Steve Jobs argument that no one would ever want to rent your music. What if you went out the streaming service out of business and you lost all your tunes? What if you were somewhere where there is no internet connection? Even if I have toe my dip in the streaming music world, it was to subscribe to Amazon music service, could I hold, the streaming of music separate from the music I had—no mixing these tunes rented in my personal collection!

But around the time of the HomePod, I signed up for the Apple music and in the words of the fantastic musical foursome, I am a believer. The ability to just add the music in my library always feels like I’m getting away with something. Last week, when I went to see Ford v. Ferrari, and when I got home, I typed a few keys, and bam, there was the soundtrack in my library. The only thing more difficult to imagine, as the return to a system of buying is trying to introduce all of my music, my disciples, even the contempt for the present me.

apple watch-activity rings Apple

I love my Apple watch, but the function that it will take you over the edge of a device that is a luxury purchase that you are actively making my life better is that the Activity tracking system. So often, gamification feels like a cheap Trick; in other apps, I quickly tired of it, but Apple’s implementation is simple and effective in a way that a part of my daily routine.

with a glance down at my wrist, how close I am to closing my rings has to walk a deep-rooted habit, and more to the point, if I’m a bit shy of my goal, it provides enough motivation to convince me to, say, go. More recently, my wife and I have begun to competitions, challenge each other, which provides even more incentive to get up and move. It is one of those examples where technology can actually live a significant advantage.

apple carplay 2018 Apple

I’m still pretty new to CarPlay, after the Installation of a compatible head unit in my car only last summer, but I’m definitely, the most zealous converts. Previously, I have a cumbersome and kitschy mount on my car dashboard, so that I could see, directions on my iPhone while driving. Now I can just take a look down in the in-dash unit, not to mention for a bigger and better picture, a much higher-level interface for when I’m behind the wheel.

Plus, the Siri integration, the game with a button on my steering wheel a child makes it to commands, and the messages, the implementation makes it possible to reply to texts without getting distracted. Safety for the victory.

iCloud Keychain

Our life is stuffed with passwords, and my love for the iCloud keychain is pure and undefiled. While I’m still using 1Password as a repository for all of my passwords, and much more-all, iCloud keychain is a seamless integration that not only the web pages in Safari, but apps on my various Apple devices makes setting and remembering strong passwords for every site a breeze.

My only real complaint are the sides, with arcane (and not particularly useful) password requirements, the keychain, the auto-generated passwords do not comply. Given that iCloud keychain is built in to all Apple devices and is completely free of charge, there is no reason that someone should not be there.
